A single mature wasp nest can hold three to five thousand wasps and a queen actively producing more. Unidentified or untreated, that’s a closed staff yard, a no-go customer terrace, an HSE near-miss, and a real risk to anyone with an undiagnosed allergy.
IPS removes wasp, hornet and bee colonies safely — risk-assessed, COSHH-compliant, with full PPE and a documented treatment record. We work to identify the species first (bees are protected and rehomed, not killed), and we always look for the structural fault that let the colony establish in the first place.

Ant trails appear long after the colony established itself — usually in a wall void, conservatory pontoon, beneath a slab or behind a kitchen unit. By the time you see them on the kitchen counter, the nest is already mature and the foraging trail can stretch ten metres or more from source to food.
IPS uses targeted gel and granular bait protocols the colony actively carries back to the nest — eliminating the queen and brood rather than just the workers you can see. We identify the species (Pharaoh, common black, ghost, garden) before treating, because the wrong bait actually splits Pharaoh colonies and makes the problem worse.

Chemical-free heat treatment for bedbugs
Whole-room heat raises every surface above 56°C for the time required to kill bedbug eggs, nymphs and adults at every life stage — without insecticides. Used in hotels, social-housing voids, and HMOs where chemical treatment isn’t an option.

Fly & Insect Management
Flies are the species the EHO walks straight to. A single blowfly can lay 300 eggs in 24 hours; a fruit fly cycle in summer is just over a week. The treatment side is only half the answer — the audit side asks where the flies came from and what stops them coming back.

Bedbug Treatment
Bedbugs hitchhike. They arrive on bags, in laundry, in upholstery and in donated furniture — and they double their population in roughly 16 days under typical room temperatures. Hotels, HMOs and social-housing voids see the worst of it.
IPS treats with heat, residual chemistry, or both — chosen by the room and the regulatory environment. Heat is non-chemical and clears all life stages in a single visit; residual chemistry is best for occupied rooms with sensitive items. Either way, follow-up monitoring confirms the kill.


Stored Product Insects
Indian meal moth, rice weevil, flour beetle, sawtooth grain beetle, biscuit beetle — the species that turn a 50-tonne rice bin into animal feed grade overnight. We run species-specific monitoring traps across rice processors, mills, bakeries and cereal lines.
Catching one early can save tens of thousands in fumigation, downgrade and write-off costs. We coordinate fumigation with licensed partners when needed, and we document every catch, every species, every site location for the auditor.
Bee Relocation & Removal
Honey bees are protected pollinators — legally we treat them as the last resort and only by exception. The right answer is almost always relocation: identify the colony, locate the queen, transfer the swarm to a registered beekeeper.
IPS works with the BBKA network of registered beekeepers across the UK to relocate swarms live. Where a colony is genuinely inaccessible or presenting an immediate public safety risk that can’t be deferred, we treat under DEFRA guidance with a full audit trail.

How quickly can you respond to a wasp or hornet emergency?
Yes. Humane deterrents — spikes, netting, post & wire, sonic and visual scarers — are entirely legal. What’s illegal is killing, injuring or interfering with nesting wild birds without the right licence in place. We do all our work to the letter of the CLP & Biocide regulations adopted 1981.
When’s the active season for the main commercial pest insects?
Wasps and hornets: March to September peak. Ants: March to October. Flies: year-round but peak May to September. Bedbugs and stored-product insects: year-round, indoor-driven. We adjust monitoring intensity to match.
How much does professional insect treatment cost?
A single wasp-nest treatment starts well under £200. A bedbug heat treatment for a hotel room is in the low four-figures. A multi-site food-processor contract with monitoring traps and BRC reporting runs into five figures annually. Every survey produces a costed proposal up front.
Are the chemicals you use safe around food, staff and pets?
Yes — every product we use is HSE-approved for the environment we’re using it in. We carry COSHH assessments to every site, isolate areas during application, and observe full re-entry timing. Heat treatment uses no chemicals at all.
Do you cover the whole of the UK?
Our insect-control arm is North-West focused for direct service, but we deliver multi-site programmes nationally through our FM partner network — with the same documentation, accreditations and reporting standards on every site.
Can you work with our existing FM provider?

Do you offer chemical-free treatment options?
Yes — heat treatment for bedbugs is fully chemical-free, and for many sensitive sites (food prep, schools, healthcare) we lead with mechanical exclusion, EFK monitoring and physical traps before any biocide is introduced.
